Gymnastics: Burdette Inks Two for 2009

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University gymnastics coach Linda Burdette today announced that Tina Maloney and Nicole Roach have signed letters of intent to compete at WVU next fall.
“These are two terrific girls to add to our program,” Burdette says. “Nicole and Tina are very talented gymnasts and we expect them to have great careers here at WVU.”
Maloney, a native of Madison, Ind., comes to West Virginia from Madison Gymnastics World where she was a four-year Level 10 gymnast. Maloney qualified for regionals four times and took third on vault in 2007. At the 2007 state meet, she finished third in the all-around, placing first on vault, fourth on bars, third on beam and second on floor. Maloney was a member of the National Honor Society at Southwestern High.
Roach, a native of South Lyon, Mich., is a four-year Level 10 gymnast for coaches Brian and Jennifer Lewis at Sports Club of Novi. She has qualified for Level 10 regionals twice and placed third at the state competition in the all-around in 2006. Roach also won the 2007 Twistar’s Invitational all-around and has received four academic varsity letters for having a 3.5 GPA or better at South Lyon High.
