MORGANTOWN, W.Va.- West Virginia University baseball senior Tyler Kuhn has been named to the Brooks Wallace Preseason Watch List, announced by the College Baseball Foundation today.
The Wallace Award is presented annually to the nation’s top collegiate baseball player. It is the only award to encompass the first pitch of the college season to the College World Series final in Omaha.
Kuhn, a Louisville, Ky., native, started all 51 games in 2007, posting a slugging percentage of .483 with 211 at bats, and recorded a .958 fielding percentage. Kuhn hit five home runs and led the team with 52 RBI last season.
The Wallace Award is a dedication to the memory of former Texas Tech player and assistant coach Brooks Wallace. Past winners include Kurt Suzuki of Cal State Fullerton in 2004, Alex Gordon of Nebraska in 2005, and pitcher/designated hitter Brad Lincoln of Houston in 2006. Last season, David Price of Vanderbilt won the fourth annual national collegiate player of the year award.
