Volleyball: 2007 Volleyball Award Winners

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Junior middle blocker Tammy Wolf was named the Outstanding Player of the 2007 West Virginia University volleyball team this past weekend at the annual awards banquet at Lake View Resort.
Wolf finished the season tied for second on the team in kills with 218. She also recorded an impressive .350 hitting percentage which puts her second on the list for highest hitting percentage in a single season. The Outstanding Player award was voted on by the team.
Also receiving honors was senior setter Kailee Goold who was recognized for her efforts in the classroom. Goold, a December 2007 graduated was named to ESPN The Magazine’s Academic All-District volleyball first team for the third consecutive year. This year, Goold had an outstanding season with 1,225 assists, giving her 3,338 in her career putting her in fourth place on WVU’s all-time assists list.
Freshman libero Bonnie West was recognized as Rookie of the year for her tremendous efforts this season. West finished the season with 534 digs, putting her in second place for most digs in a single season. West also ranked fifth in the BIG EAST in digs.
Most improved for the Mountaineers was awarded to Wolf and sophomore outside hitter Marissa Meyers, while the coaches’ award went to senior outside hitter Ashley Pappas.
The Mountaineers finished the season 16-14, 5-9 and ranked in 11th place in the BIG EAST.
