MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – An additional allotment of tickets to the Connecticut - West Virginia football game will go on sale to the public on Friday, Nov. 23.
Tickets will be available only at the Mountaineer Ticket Office on Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. and on Saturday between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tickets will also be available at the stadium box office on Saturday beginning at noon. All tickets are based upon availability and individual orders may be limited. No phone orders or online sales will be available. Tickets will be reserved and are $45 each.
Since West Virginia University students are on Thanksgiving break, sections that were unclaimed by students during this week’s allocation process will be available to the public.
“This is a game with the Big East Conference championship on the line and with significant postseason implications, so it was important to accommodate as many fans who want to attend the game,” says Director of Athletics Ed Pastilong. “Student leaders were consulted in the decision and they were supportive of the idea to insure a full stadium with an excellent atmosphere to support their fellow students on the football team”
“I want to thank the student government and Mountaineer Maniac leadership for their understanding of how important this game is to the University and the football program,” says Head Coach Rich Rodriguez. “The students are very important to the atmosphere of the game and we want as many students as possible to be there Saturday. But if they are not able to attend, we need to fill those seats with fans in gold and blue.”
“With the Big East championship on the line, it is important that we have a full stadium on Saturday to support the Mountaineers.” says WVU Student Government President David Kirkpatrick. “I want to assure the students that they still have an opportunity to claim their student ticket and hope that the student body will be there and be loud.”
A total of 12,500 tickets are available for WVU students. Nearly 7,400 students have requested a ticket for Saturday’s game. These students have until 11:59 p.m. Wednesday to claim their ticket. All other eligible students may still request a ticket to the game on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The Mountaineer Ticket Office will monitor the number of online requests made by students throughout the week to determine the number of tickets available to the public on Friday. Students will maintain their priority to obtain tickets and additional student guest tickets were allotted.
A portion of the revenue from the sale of these additional tickets will be designated for student initiatives and coordinated through Student Government Association.
