Women's Basketball: WVU No. 16 in AP Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s basketball team (3-0) rose three spots to No. 16, garnering 462 votes, in the Associated Press Top 25 poll, released today.
Ranked No. 19 last week, with 345 votes, WVU defeated St. Francis, Pa., 81-29, Friday, Nov. 16, and Cornell, 93-52, yesterday.
Four other BIG EAST teams are ranked in the poll: No. 2 Connecticut, No. 7 Rutgers, No. 18 DePaul and No. 23 Notre Dame. Louisville, ranked No. 22 last week, fell out of the poll.
For her efforts in the first three games of the season, senior Olayinka Sanni was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. Sanni tallied two double-doubles and a 20-point effort in guiding WVU to a 3-0 start. She averaged 17.3 points and 9.0 rebounds per contest. She has grabbed 20 offensive rebounds and shot 62.2% (23-37) in the first three games.
