MORGANTOWN, W.Va.- The No. 18/15 West Virginia University men’s soccer team is seeded No. 15 and receives a first round bye in the NCAA men’s soccer tournament. The Mountaineers will face the winner of the Virginia/St. Peter’s match on Wednesday, Nov. 28, at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
WVU returns to the national tournament for the third consecutive year and 10th time in program history. This is the second straight year the Mountaineers have been seeded, both under Head Coach Marlon LeBlanc.
“I’m very pleased that we are one of the seeded teams and I am very happy with the team,” comments LeBlanc. “We are going to take the next week to heal and to scout both Virginia and St. Peter’s.”
WVU is currently on a seven game unbeaten streak and is 7-1-2 over its last 10 games. Just 16 teams out of the 48 member tournament are seeded and have a first round bye.
“It means so much for us to be playing at home in our stadium,” comments senior co-captain Andy Wright. “I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, our fans are amazing, it’s like having a 12th man on the field.”
Game time is set tentatively set for 7 p.m. at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
