MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University men’s soccer senior defender Pat Carroll has been named an ESPN The Magazine Third Team Academic All-American announced today by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). The athletic coaching education major was named to the Third Team, University Division, after posting a 3.60 cumulative GPA.
The senior is just the second in Mountaineer men’s soccer history to earn the award. Carlos Iga earned the first Academic All-America honor in 1998.
Carroll is a key part of the WVU defensive line that has only allowed eight goals on the season while posting 13 shutouts. Both are new school records.
The Mountaineers will find out their NCAA fate tonight, Nov. 19, when seedings are announced on ESPNews at 5:30 p.m.
