MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Three West Virginia University cross country runners were named all-Mid-Atlantic Region after their performances at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional in Bethlehem, Pa., last weekend.
Sophomores Marie-Louise Asselin (3rd - 20:00), Keri Bland (7th – 20:21) and Clara Grandt (6th – 20:20) earned the honor after all three finished in the top 10 at the race. This is second consecutive year for Asselin and Bland after each were selected as freshmen in 2006.

No. 13 WVU placed second in the region behind No. 4 Princeton to earn one of the 18 automatic bids for the NCAA Championship. The NCAA Championship race will take place on Monday, Nov. 19, in Terre Haute, Ind.
WVU will be making its fourth appearance at nationals (1997, 2000 and 2004). The 2004 team went on to place 15th at nationals, the highest finish in school history, after winning the region.
The top 30 finishers in the event plus the top 30 American finishers will become All-Americans. The Mountaineers have two All-Americans in school history, Charity Wachera in 1997 and Megan Metcalfe in 2002 and 2004.
