Football: McAfee, Williams Honored

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Junior kicker Pat McAfee has been named a semifinalist for the prestigious Lou Groza Award that goes to the top kicker in all of college football.
The Plum, Pa. native has connected on 45-of-46 extra point attempts while also making 10-of-11 field goal tries with a long of 49 yards. He is also West Virginia’s career leader in PATs made with 155. McAfee, who has accounted for 75 points for No. 5 West Virginia this season, is joined by 20 other semifinalists from across the nation.
Reed Williams was named to the ESPN The Magazine District 2 Academic All-District Team.
The 6-2, 225 pound junior linebacker leads the Mountaineers with 74 tackles. He has also accounted for 3.5 tackles for loss, one interception, two pass breakups and two forced fumbles. The Moorefield, W.Va., native has previously been named a BIG EAST academic all-star.
