Football: White, Wicks Honored

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Junior quarterback Patrick White and senior defensive back Eric Wicks were honored by the BIG EAST Conference today.
White was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week for his outstanding play in West Virginia’s 38-31 victory over Louisville Thursday night.
The Daphne, Ala. native accounted for 328 yards of total offense and scored on a 50-yard touchdown run with 1:36 left in the game to give West Virginia a 38-31 win against the Cardinals. White rushed for a game-high 147 yards and 24 carries and completed 16 of 25 passes for 181 yards and two touchdowns. It was the second consecutive game White has produced over 300 yards of total offense.
Wicks was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week. The Pittsburgh, Pa. native scored a touchdown on a 44-yard fumble return to give West Virginia a 31-14 lead in the third quarter and then made a diving interception in the fourth quarter. The senior also added three tackles and a pass breakup.
