Women's Soccer: Six Named All-Tournament

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Six Mountaineers were named to the all-tournament team as West Virginia claimed its first-ever BIG EAST soccer title Sunday afternoon in front of a record-setting crowd at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
The six named all-tournament were goalkeeper Kerri Butler, defenders Greer Barnes and Robin Rushton, midfielders Carolyn Blank and Amanda Cicchini and forward Kim Bonilla. Bonilla was named Most Outstanding Offensive Player and Blank was named Most Outstanding Defensive Player of the tournament.
This year marks the first time an all-tournament team has been awarded.
American Division top-seed West Virginia won a penalty kick shootout against National Division top-seed Notre Dame. The Mountaineers out shot the nine-time BIG EAST champion Irish 5-3 in penalty kicks after playing to a 1-1 stalemate through two overtimes.
West Virginia owns a record of 15-4-2 and will likely be seeded for the up coming NCAA tournament field of 64 when it is announced on Monday, Nov. 12, at 8 p.m., on ESPN News. WVU earned one of 30 automatic bids through conference championships and 34 at-large bids are up for grabs.
