Rifle: WVU Falls To Kentucky In Final Fall Match

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University rifle team fell to Kentucky today, 4616-4647, in its final match of the fall season. Brandi Eskew had a breakout match, totaling 1167 points, which ties the freshman with the WVU school record. The Mountaineers close the fall portion of their schedule with a record of 3-2.
Kentucky and WVU tied in smallbore with a score of 2300, before the Wildcats took the air rifle event 2347-2316.
Eskew shot a 584 in smallbore before shooting a 583 in air rifle. The Petersburg, W. Va. native led the Mountaineers in both events and topped the entire field in smallbore.
Two Mountaineers shot their personal bests of the season today. Junior Paul Miller shot a 570 in smallbore while teammate freshman Andrew Lamson shot a 583 in air rifle.
The rifle team will open the second portion of their season when they play host to Nebraska on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 8 a.m.
