MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University women’s soccer player Krystle Kallman has been named to SoccerBuzz’s Elite Team of the Week. The Woodbury, Minn., native was outstanding last weekend in a 2-0 shutout against USF on Oct. 26, and 3-1 win over Marquette on Oct. 28.
Kallman’s sister, Kylie, a freshman defender at Minnesota, was also named to the SoccerBuzz Elite Team of the Week. They become just the second pair of sisters to be named to the team during the same week and the first in more than five years. Tina Frimpong (Washington), currently a member of the U.S. National Team, and her sister Crystal Frimpong (Florida) made the team during the week of Sept. 2, 2003.
The Kallmans are just the third set of sisters to ever make the SoccerBuzz Elite Team, joining the Frimpongs and Megan and Rachael Rapinoe of Portland.
The SoccerBuzz recognition is the second this season for Krystle, also honored on Sept 11. The honor is the third this week for Kallman, also named BIG EAST defensive player of the week and a member of Soccer America’s team of the week.
The Mountaineers, 13-4-1 on the season, received a bye in the first round of the BIG EAST tournament and will play host to the winner of Villanova/USF in the quarterfinals of the tournament on Nov. 4. Game time at Dick Dlesk Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m.
