Volleyball: Mountaineers Defeat Marquette

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University volleyball team defeated BIG EAST foe Marquette this afternoon at the WVU Coliseum.
The Mountaineers (13-12, 4-7) defeated the Golden Eagles (8-12, 5-5) in a 3-2 (30-23, 30-27, 25-30, 23-30, 15-13) match.
Senior setter Kailee Goold posted a season-high 66 assists today moving her into fourth place on WVU’s all-time assists list with 3,128 in her career.
Senior outside hitter Abby Tevis led the Mountaineers recording a double-double with 24 kills and a career-high 23 digs. Junior middle blocker Tammy Wolf also had a fantastic game, capturing a career-high 21 kills, while maintaining a .447 hitting percentage.
“We are very excited to beat a good team like Marquette,” says Head Coach Veronica Hammersmith.“I felt our enthusiasm and effort to make plays paid off very well for us in the end”
The Mountaineers will return to action on Friday, Nov. 2, as they travel to take on BIG EAST rival Louisville a 7 p.m. match at the Cardinal Arena.
