NEW YORK – West Virginia University’s Olayinka Sanni was named to the 11-member preseason all-Big East team selected by league coaches and announced today in New York City.
Sanni averaged 14 points and 6.7 rebounds per game last year as a junior, leading the Mountaineers to 21-11 record and a second-round NCAA tournament appearance where they lost to LSU 49-43.
Sanni scored 20 points or more nine times in 2007 including 26-point games against Providence, St. Francis, Pa. and Georgetown. Sanni has six double-double games in points and rebounds and she scored her 1,000th career point in a home victory over Cincinnati.
Sanni earned first-team all-Big East honors last year as a junior.
This year, Sanni is one of five returning starters from last year’s team that also includes senior Meg Bulger, who has missed the last year and a half with two knee injuries. Bulger was a 2005 all-Big East pick.

WVU plays its first three regular season games at home before taking on nationally ranked Tennessee at the Charleston Civic Center on Wednesday Nov. 21.
