Women's Soccer: Soccer Buzz Recognizes Banks

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University women’s soccer player Ashley Banks was named to Soccer Buzz’s elite team of the week on Tuesday.
Banks, a forward from Annandale, Va., was recognized for her eight-point effort in two games last weekend that included a hat trick at Georgetown. Banks, who leads the BIG EAST in points per game (1.88), is tied for first in goals scored (11) and is fourth in assists (8) amongst conference players this season.
Banks is the third Mountaineer to receive Soccer Buzz team of the week honors this season, joining senior Natalie Cocchi (Oct. 9) and junior Krystle Kallman (Sept. 11).
West Virginia needs a pair of wins and a Connecticut tie or loss in one of its two games this weekend to win its second consecutive BIG EAST American Division title. The Mountaineers welcome USF on Friday, Oct. 26, at 7 p.m. Friday has also been designated “Dollar Day” with all tickets, hot dogs, popcorn and Coca-Colas available for purchase for just one dollar.
Marquette travels to Morgantown on Sunday, Oct. 28, for a 1 p.m. match, in the regular season finale for both teams. Sunday’s contest is also Senior Day for five student-athletes: Banks, Kim Bonilla, Natalie Cocchi, Kiley Harris and Ashley Neal.
