MORGANTOWN, W.Va.-Navy’s Adam Pennington scored the game’s only goal with five minutes left to lead the Midshipmen to a 1-0 non-conference victory over West Virginia University, tonight, at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. The Mountaineers now stand at 8-5 on the season, 4-3 in conference play.
The Mountaineers controlled the majority of play out shooting the Midshipmen, 13-7, and holding a 9-4 corner kick advantage.
“We gave up a soft goal and we didn’t shoot well,” comments Head Coach Marlon LeBlanc. “They wanted it more and we can’t have a loss like this happen.”
WVU will host No. 1 Connecticut on Friday, Oct. 19, at 8 p.m. The match will be televised live nationally on Fox Soccer Channel. Advance ticket sales will begin at 9 a.m., at the Mountaineer Ticket Office on Wednesday, Oct. 17. The match also has been deemed Dollar Day, with select concessions available for only $1, and every fan is encouraged to wear gold to the match.
