MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University’s Justin Jenkins was selected to the preseason second team All-America as chosen by Collegiate Baseball.
Jenkins, a senior outfielder from Ridgeley, W.Va., batted .375 with 10 home runs and 49 RBI as a junior for the 36-22 Mountaineers. Jenkins and Rutgers shortstop Todd Frazier are the BIG EAST conference’s sole representatives in Collegiate Baseball’s selection as Frazier was named to the third team.
The publication also predicted that West Virginia will finish fourth in the BIG EAST this season after a solid fifth-place finish last year. 2006 conference champion Notre Dame is again picked to finish first in 2007 followed by Louisville and St. John’s.
Jenkins is West Virginia's first preseason All-American since Matt Schubert was selected by Collegiate Baseball in 1992.
