Women's Basketball: WVU to Host Seton Hall

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University women’s basketball team will try to win their third consecutive Big East Conference game when they host the Seton Hall Pirates tonight at the WVU Coliseum. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
Seton Hall (9-7, 1-4) enters the game having lost four straight. Their most recent defeat came Saturday against Rutgers when they dropped a 62-50 decision at home. The Pirates’ last victory came on Dec. 30 when they defeated Lehigh 51-48.
Seton Hall is led by senior forward Monique Blake who averages 12.2 points and 8.1 rebounds per contest. Senior forward Heta Korpivaara is next in scoring, contributing 9.9 points per game.
West Virginia (10-7, 2-3) has won two straight, knocking off No. 24 DePaul on the road last Tuesday before returning home to defeat Providence on Saturday. Junior center Olayinka Sanni leads the Mountaineers in both scoring and rebounding with 13.5 points and seven rebounds per game. Junior guard Laquita Owens averages 11.3 points and is the Mountaineers’ top three-point threat with 39 triples on the season. Junior forward Chakia Cole also averages double figures with 10.4 points to go along with six rebounds per game.
The Pirates lead the all-time series with WVU by an 11-7 margin. The Mountaineers are 3-3 all-time at the Coliseum versus Seton Hall. The Pirates have won eight of the last nine meetings between the schools.
