Women's Basketball: WVU Hosts Providence

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (January 12, 2007) – The West Virginia University women’s basketball team hosts conference foe Providence, Saturday, January 13, at 2:00 p.m. at the WVU Coliseum.
WVU (9-7, 1-3) is fresh off its Tuesday night victory at No. 24 DePaul and is led by junior center Olayinka Sanni’s 12.7 points and 6.6 rebounds per contest. In her last five contests, the Chicago Heights, Ill., native is shooting 64.2% from the field.
Upstart Providence (12-4, 2-1) is led by sophomore guard Catherine Bove’s 13.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per contest. She is the reigning BIG EAST player of the week after guiding the Friars to a 106-94 double overtime victory against then No.13 Louisville, Jan. 3.
WVU leads the all-time series with Providence by an 11-4 margin including a perfect 6-0 record at the WVU Coliseum. Providence’s lone win in Morgantown came at Morgantown High School in 1999 while the Coliseum was under asbestos abatement.
The contest will be aired by MSN with Hoppy Kerchival and Kyle Wiggs on the call. Fans can watch the contest on WVFX Fox 14 (Clarksburg) in Morgantown. Others stations picking up the game are: WTAP/My (Parkersburg), WJAL (Chambersburg, Pa.), Cox Sports (Providence, R.I.), Fox Sports (Pittsburgh/Tape Delay), Sports Time (Ohio/Tape Delay) and MASN (Capital Region/Tape Delay).
The contest will also feature the “NCAA Take a Kid to the Game Day” where any youth 13 and under will be admitted free with the purchase an adult ticket.
