Volleyball: WVU Defeated by Belmont

CARBONDALE, Ill. – The West Virginia University volleyball team was defeated by Belmont tonight in the first match of the Saluki Invitational.
Belmont (5-2) defeated the Mountaineers 3-0 (30-19, 30-10, 30-23).
WVU (1-7) fell short in game one and lost by 20 points in game two. Not even a valiant resurgence by the Mountaineers could top the Bruins in game three. That contest went to Belmont 30-23.
Libero Aurora Ebert-Santos led West Virginia with 15 digs, second only to Ashley Collier of the Bruins who registered 22 for her team. Outside hitter Abby Tevis recorded seven kills for the Mountaineers.
West Virginia will kick off day two action tomorrow with a Noon match against Austin Peay.
