MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University volleyball team travels to Loretto, Pa., to take on Saint Francis in a 7 p.m. contest on Sept. 5.
The Mountaineers (1-5) are 5-0 all-time against the Red Flash (1-4). Like West Virginia, Saint Francis’ only win of the season came in its season opener. The Red Flash defeated the U.S. Naval Academy 3-1 on Aug. 30.
WVU is coming off a 0-3 finish at the Penn State Invitational held Sept. 1-2 in State College, Pa. The team faced an undefeated Duke squad on opening night and started day two action with a match against a tough No. 2 Penn State. The Mountaineers lost both matches 0-3. Eastern Kentucky proved to be too much for West Virginia as the Colonels defeated the Mountaineers 3-0.
West Virginia is led by Aurora Ebert-Santos’ 3.29 digs per game. Middle blocker Lisa Hough and setter Gina Cusanelli have played in 19 of the Mountaineers’ 20 games. The team averages 13.80 digs per game.
