Women's Soccer: WVU Retains Sixth Spot in NSCAA

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s soccer team retained the sixth spot in the NSCAA/adidas coaches poll released on Tuesday, Sept. 26.
Undefeated Notre Dame (9-0), who hosts WVU on Friday, stayed in the poll’s top spot and is now the consensus No. 1 among major polls. North Carolina and Santa Clara both moved up two spots to No. 2 and 3, respectively, while Florida State dropped from second to fourth after losing to the Tar Heels this past weekend. UCLA also dropped two spots to No. 5.
Two other WVU opponents this season listed in the poll were No. 9 Penn State and No. 14 Virginia. BIG EAST member Louisville was also ranked No. 25.
The Mountaineers (8-0-2, 2-0-1 BIG EAST) boast one of the nation’s highest scoring offenses and have outscored their opponents 36-4 in 10 games. WVU has also outshot its opponents 272-69.
West Virginia travels to South Bend, Ind., to face No. 1 Notre Dame on Friday, Sept. 29, at 7:30 p.m., at Alumni Field.
