Tennis: Mountaineers Travel to Maryland Invite

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s tennis team will travel to College Park, Md., for the Maryland Invitational, held Friday, Sept. 22-Sunday, Sept. 24.
The team competed in the invitational in 2005. Junior Monica Lyskawa finished third in her flight, while the doubles team of juniors Stacey Percival and Colleen Speaker went undefeated.
The Mountaineers are coming off of a strong first weekend at the Eastern Collegiate Invitational. The team finished with 25 victories and 10 defeats. Freshman Stephanie LaFortune walked away with her first collegiate championship in the No. 4 singles. The dynamic duo of juniors Percival and Natalia Prinz took home the championship in the No. 1 doubles.
The squad will finish the fall season when it hosts the Martha Thorn Invitational, Oct. 7-9.
