Volleyball: WVU Falls to Denver

DAYTON, Ohio – The West Virginia University volleyball team fell to Denver today at the Raider Challenge.
Denver (5-4) won the match 3-0 (30-17, 30-21, 30-20).
The Pioneers exhibited early domination in game one and went on to win 30-17. WVU (1-11) took an early lead in game two, but Denver retaliated by scoring 12 consecutive points. The Pioneers kept the momentum going to win game two by a score of 30-21. The Mountaineers battled back from an early deficit in game three to a 4-4 tie. Denver fought to tie the game 8-8 and went on to defeat WVU 30-20.
The Mountaineers were led by outside hitter Abby Tevis’ nine kills and nine points. Setter Kailee Goold and libero Aurora Ebert-Santos both tallied eight digs for WVU.
West Virginia will close out the Raider Challenge tonight in a 5 p.m. bout with Akron.
