MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Sugar Bowl victory over Georgia plus preseason top five ranking equals more viewers for Mountaineer Magazine.
This fall, West Virginia’s popular weekly football television show will be carried on MASN (Mid-Atlantic Sports Network) in the Capital Region and on SportsTime Ohio throughout the Buckeye State. That means about seven million more homes will have direct access to weekly WVU football programming, according to MSN Executive Director Mike Parsons.
“We’re excited about our new partnerships,” says Parsons. “Satellite TV also gives Mountaineer fans the option of picking up the show as well.”
MASN is a 24-hour all-sports network co-owned by the Washington Nationals and the Baltimore Orioles and is carried on Cox Cable, DirectTV, RCN, Charter and Verizon, serving seven states from Harrisburg, Pa., to Charlotte, N.C. The network is in nearly 4.2 million homes now following a recent settlement with Comcast.
SportsTime Ohio was launched on March 12, 2006, as the television arm of the Cleveland Indians. The Cleveland-based network is on many cable systems throughout Ohio and reaches about 2.6 million homes.
West Virginia football fans in the Washington, D.C., area can watch Mountaineer Magazine on Fridays at 11:30 pm, and on Saturdays at 10:30 am. Mountaineer Magazine will air Friday nights at 11:30 pm on SportsTime Ohio.
Mountaineer Magazine will also once again be carried on CSTV (College Sports Television), which reaches about nine million homes. In addition, CSTV will stream the show on the Internet through MSNsportsNET.com’s All Access package.
The local lineup of stations showing Mountaineer Magazine remains the same with the exception of the addition of My 5 in Parkersburg. Mountaineer Magazine will air at 11:30 pm on Friday nights in all markets except for Wheeling-Steubenville, Ohio, and on Saturday mornings at 11:30 am. Check your local listings.
In all, about 15 million homes in nine states will have direct access to Mountaineer Magazine with CSTV adding national coverage.
This week’s season debut features senior linebacker Jay Henry, a look back at the 1997 WVU-Marshall game, a Marshall scouting report, Big East report, football coach Rich Rodriguez, Mountaineer sights and sounds, and a team preview of the 2006 season.
Tony Caridi and Mary Ravasio will co-host the show.
