Volleyball: Indiana defeats Oakland

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Indiana defeated Oakland in day two action during the West Virginia Classic at the WVU Coliseum.
Indiana (2-0) swept the match 3-0 (30-26, 30-18, 30-27).
Game one was tied 11 separate times before Indiana finally overcame Oakland (0-2). Erica Short and Lauren Ditteon of Indiana both had a game-high four kills. Indiana won game one 30-26.
Indiana quickly took control in game two, establishing an early 7-2 lead. The Hoosiers led by as much as 14 at one point, putting the score at 28-14. Assisted by Sarah Diehl’s six digs and Lauren Ditteon’s five kills, Indiana defeated Oakland 30-18.
Indiana showed solid dominance through most of game three. However, Oakland valiantly surged back to tie the game at 21-21 and again at 26-26. In the end, Indiana came out on top with the help of Sara Diehl’s game-high nine digs.
Next up for Oakland is a 5:30 p.m. match tonight against Akron. Indiana meets WVU tonight at 8:00 p.m. for the final match of the West Virginia Classic.
