Men's Soccer: WVU Wins Exhibition Opener

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University men’s soccer team opened its 2006 season with a 1-0 exhibition win over Virginia Tech on Thursday, Aug. 17, in Morgantown, W.Va., at Dick Dlesk Stadium.
The Mountaineers’ Jyler Noviello broke the 0-0 tie in the 68th minute when he collected a pass from midfielder Sean Brooks and chipped it over reserve Hokie goalkeeper Brendan Dunn for the goal.
WVU recorded 10 shots in the match to VT’s nine. All 23 Mountaineers that dressed for the match saw action.
West Virginia plays their final preseason match on Saturday, Aug. 19, when it travels to Huntington, W.Va., to face Marshall. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
