MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s track team is in eighth place with 15 points after the second day of competition at the Big East Outdoor Track and Field Championships held at the Sharman Family Sports Complex in Storrs, Conn.
Senior Susan Davis placed second in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:25.93 to earn the Mountaineers eight team points. Davis’ time was also good enough to qualify for NCAA East regionals.
Senior Jen Hall placed fifth in the pole vault with a leap of 3.80 meters to collect four team points for WVU. Like Davis, Hall produced a regional qualifying mark.
Senior Lindsey Clark placed sixth in the javelin with a throw of 42.67 meters to garner three points. Her distance was good enough to qualify for ECACs.
Several Mountaineers have qualified for events on Sunday, including Jessica Czaikowski in the 100 and 100 hurdles, Shani Boone and Junique Morris in the 200 and Raeleen Hunter in the 800. Hunter’s time of 2:08.81 bettered the NCAA East Regional qualifying standard. The 4x100-meter relay has the top time in the conference and will also run on Sunday.
Syracuse is currently in first place with 53 points, followed by Pitt (38), Notre Dame (33 ½), Rutgers and Connecticut (28).
