MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – WVU has seven athletes that have qualified to compete in five events at the NCAA East Regional on May 26-27, on the Irwin Belk Track in Greensboro, N.C. North Carolina A&T will host the event.
“This is a big weekend for the girls that have worked so hard to get here,” head coach Jeff Huntoon said.
Junior Jessica Czaikowski’s time of 13.36 enters the weekend ranked seventh in the region and 20th in the nation in the 100-meter hurdles. Czaikowski won the 100-meter hurdles at the BIG EAST outdoor meet back on May 5-7.
Senior Susan Davis has a top-20 time in the region in the steeplechase at 10:25.93, while freshman Raeleen Hunter will compete in the 800-meter run at the meet after posting a qualifying time of 2:08.81 earlier this year.
Senior Jen Hall will compete in the pole vault with her top height of the year coming at 3.82-meters.
“Jen Hall has surprised us all year and I wouldn’t be surprised if she does it again this weekend,” Huntoon added. “I would like to see our 4x100 make it to the finals by making the top eight in the preliminaries.”
The 4x100 relay team currently ranks 11th in region at 45.66. The group is comprised of Jamillah Nock, Junique Morris, Shani Boone, and Czaikowski.
