MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia University senior rower Meg Ayers has been named to the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) all-Mid Atlantic Region second team.
“Meg has been such a big part of this team over the last five years not only as a tremendous athlete, but as a leader,” says head coach Nancy LaRocque. “Meg has really shined. She is very outgoing and supportive of her teammates.”
Ayers was a stronghold in the varsity eight boat lineup throughout her four years as a Mountaineer. She was also a standout in the varsity one boat, where she competed in events such as the U.S. Rowing Nationals.
The Dayton, Ohio, native was voted team captain three of her four years at WVU by her teammates. Ayers is also a member of the WVU Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and a BIG EAST Academic All-Star.
Ayers will continue to help the Mountaineer rowing program as the team’s graduate assistant for the upcoming 2006-07 season.
“I can't wait to see her work with the new novice team,” says LaRocque. “I know she will do a great job.”
