MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia University women’s soccer player Deana Everrett has been named to the W-League’s team of the week for her play last week with the Toronto Lady Lynx.
Everrett, an Oakville, Ontario native, scored five goals in the Lynx’ 7-0 win over the Rochester Rhinos on Saturday, May 13, to kick off their 2006 W-League season. The Mountaineers’ rising sophomore broke through the Rhinos’ defense in the 20th, 40th, 46th, 57th and 90th minutes for her scores.
Everrett and former two-time Hermann Trophy winner Christine Sinclair were the two forwards selected for the week.
The W-League is the top women’s soccer league in North America, boasting 38 teams in a four-conference format with the top women’s players, including former professional stars and elite collegiate players, from the United States and Canada competing.
