MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University women’s soccer team continues its spring season on Saturday, April 8, when it plays host to the third annual Betty Puskar Breast Care Center Soccer Invitational.
Eight teams, including West Virginia, make up this year’s tournament field. The Mountaineers kick off their day with a 9:15 a.m., contest against BIG EAST foe Syracuse at the WVU Practice Field. West Virginia will then play PA Select at 10:45 a.m, also at the practice field and Buffalo at 2:30 p.m., at Milan Puskar Stadium. Matches are 40 minutes in length. The tournament final is set for 5:00 p.m., at the WVU Practice Field.
On Sunday, April 9, the Mountaineers will also play host to a four-versus-four small-sided tournament at the Caperton Indoor Practice Facility beginning at 9:00 a.m. Teams will consist of three local youth or adult players and one member of the Mountaineer women’s soccer team. All money raised will be donated to raise breast cancer awareness.
All of the weekend’s events are free and open to the public with donations being greatly appreciated. Last year, the women’s soccer team raised more than $8,000 for the cause.
The Mountaineers, who most recently defeated Michigan, 2-0, in spring play, will close out their spring season on Saturday, April 22, when they play host to Ohio State at 2:00 p.m., on the WVU practice field.
