MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Joyce Bucklew, business manager and director of game day parking for the WVU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, will be presented the Rockefeller Award for her work bringing awareness to Alzheimer’s Disease, it was announced recently.
Bucklew watched as her mother struggled with Alzheimer’s for many years and as a member of the board of directors of what was the North Central Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, she helped facilitate the merger of three small chapters into what is now the West Virginia Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
Along with co-facilitating a support group in Morgantown for many years, Bucklew has attended the National Alzheimer’s Public Policy Forum in Washington, D.C., and has been active in Memory Walks and other initiatives and activities for the West Virginia Chapter.
Also being recognized is state Sen. Roman Prezioso of Fairmont, who has been a long-standing supporter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
Sen. John D. Rockefeller, IV will present the award to Bucklew and Prezioso at a luncheon in Charleston on Friday, May 19.
