Women's Soccer: WVU Claims BPBCC Invite Title

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University women’s soccer team downed three opponents and tied a fourth over the weekend to claim the third annual Betty Puskar Breast Care Center Invitational championship.
The Mountaineers opened the tournament action with a 1-1 tie with conference foe Syracuse behind a goal from rising junior Ashley Banks. WVU then beat PA Select, a club squad out of Pittsburgh, 4-0. Goals again came from Banks (2), Lisa DuCote and Kelsey Fowler. West Virginia’s Natalie Cocchi gave the Mountaineers a 1-0 win over Buffalo to advance WVU to the championship match. There, West Virginia used goals from Deana Everrett and once again from Banks to claim a 3-0 win over Duquesne.
The Mountaineers conclude their spring season by playing host to Ohio State on Saturday, April 22.
