MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Despite being injured for the team’s last 10 games, junior Meg Bulger was named to the all-Big East second team announced in Hartford Friday night.
The Pittsburgh native’s 2006 season was cut short due to a knee injury against St. John’s. At the time of Bulger’s injury West Virginia was 11-6 and in the thick of the Big East race. After the injury, the Mountaineers won only 1 of 10 games to finish the season with a 12-15 record.
In 18 games, Bulger averaged 19.8 points and 4.9 rebounds per game while making a team-best 53 3-point baskets. She was averaging 34.1 minutes per game prior to her injury.
No. 12-seeded West Virginia will try to knock off fifth-seeded Louisville in the first round of the Big East tournament Saturday at the Hartford Civic Center. Game time is noon.
