ATLANTA, Ga. - West Virginia University swimmer Nick Delic qualified for the NCAA Championship finals in the 100 breast on Friday, March 24, at the Georgia Tech Aquatics Center in Atlanta, Ga.
Delic, a sophomore from Split, Croatia, swam the preliminaries in a time of 54.08, good enough for 14th place which sends him to tonight's finals. Delic looks to place in the top eight which would make him an automatic All-American.
Also competing today were freshman Andrew Langenfeld, sophomore Pablo Marmolejo and senior Chris Hagedorn. All three swimmers raced in the 100 fly, but failed to qualify for the finals. Langenfeld finished 30th in 48.28, while Marmolejo came in 35th (48.85) and Hagedorn 38th (49.33).
The Mountaineers currently have eight team points which puts them in 24th place heading into tonight's finals. West Virginia is the only BIG EAST school with team points on the board.
The finals are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. this evening.
