Men's Basketball: Herber Earns Academic Honor

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia University men's basketball senior Johannes Herber has been named to the 2005-06 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II men's basketball first team as selected by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).
It is the third straight year Herber has earned district first-team honors. He was a first-team Academic All-American in 2005 and a third-team Academic All-American in 2004.
A political science major with a 4.0 GPA, Herber has started every game of his career at West Virginia. This year, Herber is averaging 9.3 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. He ranks fifth all-time in career assists at WVU with 431.
Along with Herber, Tyler Azzarelli of Monmouth, Steve Danley of Penn, Chet Stachitas of St. Joseph's and Chris McNaughton of Bucknell earned all-district first-team honors.
Herber, a native of Darmstadt, Germany, is now a candidate for Academic All-American honors.
