Women's Tennis: WVU Falls to Ohio State

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University women's tennis team fell to Ohio State, 6-1, on Friday, Feb. 3, at the Jesse Owens West Recreation Center in Columbus, Ohio.
No. 3 Stacey Percival was the lone singles winner in the match, defeating Angela DiPastina, 7-6, 3-6, 1-0 (5-0). The No. 1 doubles team of senior Raynie Theis and Percival won in a tight match over O'Keefe-Blackmore, 8-6.
At No. 1 singles, sophomore Monica Lyskawa was defeated by Caitlin O'Keefe, 7-6 (9-0), 6-2. Sophomore Natalia Prinz fell to Sonia Ruzimovsky, 6-0, 6-0, at the No. 2 spot, while No. 4 Colleen Speaker was bettered by Julie Blackmore, 6-2, 6-1. Theis made her debut of the season in the singles lineup at the No. 5 spot but fell to Kristin Messmer, 7-6 (5-0), 6-1. No. 6 Ashley Constantine lost to Ciara Finucane, 6-2, 6-1.
At No. 2 doubles, Prinz-Speaker were defeated, 8-4, by Ruzimovsky-DePastina. Constantine-Lyskawa lost 8-4 to Messmer-Finucane at the No. 3 doubles spot.
The Mountaineers (1-3) return to action tomorrow, Sat. Feb. 4, against Missouri in Columbus, Ohio, at 10 a.m.
