MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University gymnastics team will host a four-team meet on Sunday, Feb. 5, at the WVU Coliseum beginning at 1 p.m.
West Virginia (2-3) welcomes fellow East Atlantic Gymnastics League foe George Washington (5-1) and Big Ten Conference teams Iowa (0-5) and Ohio State (3-2) to the Coliseum for its second home meet of the season.
The Mountaineers, who improved their team score by an average of two points from their previous score in every meet this season, are averaging 190.45 through three meets this year. Ohio State (190.837) is the highest scoring team of Sunday’s meet, followed by WVU, Iowa (189.6) and George Washington (189.5).
WVU’s best event is the uneven bars, ranked 30th in the NCAA with an average score of 48.075, which includes freshman Mehgan Morris (9.767 avg.). Morris is the highest scoring gymnast on bars among Sunday’s competitors.
Mountaineer junior Janàe Cox, fresh off her first all-around attempt of the season in last week’s 192.55-191.1 win over NC State, is ranked 17th in the country in the all-around after compiling a first-place score of 39.025.
