MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University men's and women's swimming and diving teams travel to East Meadow, N.Y., for the BIG EAST Championships, Feb. 15-18, with qualifying and final events throughout each day.
The Mountaineer men finished the regular season with a record of 6-3, while the women had their first winning season since 1996 with a record of 5-4-1.
The WVU men's 400 free relay team returns to New York to defend its title from last season. The successful combination of seniors Chris Hagedorn, Rick Mann, freshman Andrew Langenfeld and Nick Delic won four races during the season and broke the WVU Natatorium record with a time of 3:02.25 against Virginia Tech.
Sophomore Pablo Marmolejo looks to defend his 200 fly title he claimed in last year's championships. His posted times in the 200 fly (1:47.70) and 200 IM (1:51.90) are tops in the BIG EAST this season.
Freshman Lindsey Largo is making her first trip to the BIG EAST Championships. The Morrison, Ill., native won the 50 free six times during the course of her first season as a Mountaineer.
