PHILADELPHIA -- West Virginia University senior outfielder Stan Posluszny has been named to the preseason all-Northeast Corridor team as selected by Northeast Baseball Review, it was announced recently.
After an early season slump, Posluszny was able to bounce back and hit a team-best 12 home runs and 50 RBI in 2005. Poslyszny has 23 career home runs and was a preseason all-Big East pick as well.
Pittsburgh second baseman Jim Negrych has been named Northeast Baseball Review Preseason Player of the Year. The junior led the Big East last season with 16 home runs while clubbing 59 RBIs and maintaining a .349 batting average.
Scouts currently project the 5-foot-10 Negrych to be a third-to fifth-round draft pick.
George Washington's Derrik Lutz (8-1, 2.79) received honorable mention as the Northeast Baseball Review Preseason Player of the Year. Following a spectacular spring, the junior struck out 59 batters in just 25 innings for Chatham of the Cape Cod League.
