MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University women's basketball coach Mike Carey today announced the results from junior All-American Meg Bulger's MRI.
The Pittsbugh native and all-BIG EAST player has a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee as well as a possible meniscus tear. She will miss the remainder of the 2005-06 season.
Expected recovery time, post-surgery, is approximately six months. Surgery has yet to be scheduled.
Bulger injured her knee late in the Mountaineers 74-69 loss at St. John's on Sunday, January 29, at Madison Square Garden.
At the time of her injury, Bulger was third in the BIG EAST in scoring, averaging 19.8 points per game, and was the national leader in 3-point field goals made per contest at 3.5.
WVU, fresh off its 82-70 home victory over No. 11 DePaul last night, returns to action at No. 3 Connecticut, Saturday, February 4, at Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Conn.
