Football: White ECAC Player of the Year

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University sophomore quarterback Patrick White has been named the ECAC Division I-A college football player of the year, it was announced today.
White became the first quarterback in Big East history to run and pass for more than 1,000 yards in the same season, accumulating 1,524 yards through the air and gaining 1,074 yards on the ground. The Daphne, Ala., resident ranks eighth in the nation in both points per game (9.3) and points responsible for (15.3).
White helped West Virginia to a 10-2 record and a spot in the Toyota Gator Bowl to play Georgia Tech on Jan. 1 in Jacksonville, Fla.
Joining White on the 2006 ECAC All-Star team are offensive linemen Jeremy Sheffey and Dan Mozes, running back Steve Slaton, defensive back Eric Wicks and defensive tackle Keilen Dykes.
