Tennis: Team Announces 2007 Spring Schedule

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University tennis coach Marc Walters today announced the team’s 2007 spring schedule.
“This is a very challenging schedule with no lulls in sight,” says Walters, who enters his first season with the team. “There are no built in breaks which means the girls will need to be prepared for the physical and mental demands this schedule will bring.”
The squad will kick-off the season with a four game homestead, highlighted by a Feb. 2 match against nationally ranked Ohio State. All told, the Mountaineers will compete against seven nationally ranked teams.
“The matches against the nationally ranked teams are a good opportunity for us to measure ourselves in the conference and the region as we make roads toward our own regional and national ranking.”
The Mountaineers are coming off a productive fall tournament season in which they earned eight individual flight championships. Captains Kelly Walsh and Natalia Prinz look to lead the team’s four other returning lettermen and five freshmen to a successful season.
“The team has really worked hard this off-season in the weight room,” says Walters. “The confidence we built during the fall should definitely carry us far this season.”
