MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University freshmen Marie Louise Asselin and Keri Bland were named to the cross country all Mid-Atlantic regional team on Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Mid-Atlantic Championship in Lock Haven, Pa.
Top Mountaineer runner Asselin placed 12th at the championship with a time of 21:09. This was the third consecutive meet that the Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, native has led the WVU runners. She previously finished 22nd at the BIG EAST Championship (21:44) and first at the Golden Flash Invitational (10:45.06).
Bland, from Fairview, W.Va., has also had a hugely productive first season for the Mountaineers. The runner placed 19th at the Mid-Atlantic Championship with a time of 21:13. Bland has previously led the team at the Spiked Shoe Invitational (11th place, 22:01.80) and at the Lock Haven Invitational (sixth place, 21:47).
Both Asselin and Bland are currently waiting and hoping for an at-large bid to the NCAA Championship. That meet will be held in Terre Haute, Ind., on Monday, Nov. 20, at 10 a.m.
