Cross Country: WVU Set For Regionals

Morgantown, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s cross country team will travel to Lock Haven University for the Mid-Atlantic Championship on Saturday, Nov. 11. The meet is set for 10 a.m.
The Mountaineers are coming off a sixth place finish at the BIG EAST Championship on Oct. 28. The squad was led by true freshman Marie Louise Asselin. The Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, native finished the race in 22nd place with a time of 21:44. The championship marked the second straight week the rookie led the team.
The team travels to the meet ranked 10th in the region.
“The team is really excited to race its best at regionals this weekend,” says second year coach Sean Cleary. “This is the meet we have focused our training around all year. We are looking to establish ourselves as a further contender for this championship.”
The squad hopes to leave this weekend’s meet with NCAA qualifiers. Indiana State University will host the NCAA Championship on Monday, Nov. 20.
