MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will open the 2006-07 season with the annual Gold and Blue Relay on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 2:30 p.m. in the Natatorium.
The Relay, an intersquad match-up designed to prepare the student-athletes for the upcoming season, coincides with the program’s parents weekend.
“The Relay comes on the heels of five good weeks of training,” says third year head coach Sergio Lopez. “It’s a time for the team to take chances, cheer for one another and see friends and family.”
Saturday will conclude with a team dinner at the St. John's University Parish Hall at 6 p.m. Coach Lopez expects almost 100 people to attend.
The Mountaineers’ first official meet will be the WVU Relay Meet, held at the Natatorium on Saturday, Oct. 14, at 8:30 a.m.
