Volleyball: WVU Drops Three to Seton Hall

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The West Virginia University volleyball team dropped three games to Seton Hall today in South Orange, N.J.
The Pirates (14-11, 3-6) won the match 3-0 (30-22, 30-28, 30-20).
West Virginia (2-25, 1-9) started out behind in game one, trailing Seton Hall 5-9. Kills from setter Gina Cusanelli, middle blocker Tammy Wolf and outside hitter Kristina Gallahan helped close the gap for the Mountaineers. A key kill from middle blocker Lisa Hough took WVU to within one point of the Pirates, bringing the score to 14-15. Seton Hall retaliated and took game one 30-22.
Game two was tied three times before the Pirates emerged with an 11-7 lead. West Virginia fought back will important kills from Wolf, Cusanelli and Gallahan to tie the game 16-16. Seton Hall looked to be regaining control as the team had a 29-24 advantage. WVU fought back with four consecutive points, including an ace from Cusanelli, to close the gap 28-29. The Pirates, however, gained the last point and won the contest 30-28.
After the close game two, the Mountaineers fell behind 3-9 early in game three. Despite key kills from Wolf and outside hitter Abby Tevis, West Virginia could not catch up. Game three went to the Pirates by a score of 30-20. Wolf led the Mountaineer attack with 10 kills and 11.5 points while setter Kailee Goold contributed 30 assists. Hough registered seven blocks in the contest, her highest mark of the season.
West Virginia will return to the WVU Coliseum on Saturday, Nov. 4, to take on the Louisville Cardinals at 3 p.m.
