MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s cross country team will travel to Kent, Ohio, on Friday, Oct. 20, at 4 p.m. for the Golden Flash Invitational, the final meet before the BIG EAST Championship.
The invitational will be the first time the team has ever raced the week before the championship. Head coach Sean Cleary is hoping his team can get some strong runs in this weekend to add confidence before next weekend’s meet.
“It’s important to stay in a competitive mode,” said Cleary.
The Mountaineers are coming off a two week break. They last competed in the National Open at University Park, Pa., taking fourth place. The squad was once again led by redshirt freshman Clara Grandt, who finished eighth (21:48). The West Union, W.Va., native has recorded three top 10 finishes this season.
The BIG EAST Championship meet will be held on Friday, Oct. 27, at 11 a.m. in Franklin Park, Boston, Ma.
